COLO SPRGS, CO (Apr 21, 2026) – USA Shooting has named the athletes who will represent Team USA at the 2026 ISSF World Cups in Munich, Germany, and Hangzhou, China, following a pair of highly competitive Spring Selection Matches in Colorado Springs.

The selected athletes will compete at:

  • ISSF World Cup Rifle / Pistol – May 24–31 in Munich, Germany
  • ISSF World Cup Rifle / Pistol / Shotgun – July 20–29 in Hangzhou, China

The selections signal a continued shift in focus for USA Shooting as the organization builds toward the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games, placing greater emphasis on performance under pressure and long-term athlete development.

Pistol Team Raises the Bar

Held March 12–16, the pistol selection match debuted an updated selection process designed to better reflect Olympic-level demands. The changes also aligned with new 2026 ISSF regulations, including updated grip restrictions.

Rather than rewarding comfort and consistency alone, the revised format prioritized athletes who can deliver when it counts most—under pressure, on demand.

“We’re not here to just pick a team. We’re here to build athletes who can show up, under pressure, on demand, when it matters most. That’s the standard now,” said Pistol National Team Coach Anthony Lutz.

Rifle Program Adapts to New Era

Rifle athletes followed with their selection match March 20–24, marking the first domestic competition under updated ISSF equipment rules. The new regulations reduce allowable stiffness and thickness in shooting suits, resulting in softer gear and placing greater emphasis on athlete stability and control.

The match also served as a trial run for future Olympic Team selection procedures.

“This was the first selection competition to use the new ISSF rules and for USA Shooting to test a procedure we plan to use for selecting the next Olympic Team,” said Rifle National Team Coach Pete Durban. “We had some world-class results, bringing together a group of experienced veterans and accomplished collegiates. This bodes well for the future of USA rifle as we prepare for LA28.”
